Angela’s ambition has always been to be the ultimate professional dental ancillary providing wide-ranging support to the dentist in high-level patient care. Accordingly, she qualified as a Dental Therapist, a Dental Hygienist and a Dental Health Educator in the UK where she grew up.
Angela qualified in 1971 at Guys Hospital Dental School – London (Dental Therapy), 1974 at Royal London Hospital Dental College – London (Dental Hygiene) and 1975 Royal Society of Health – London – Diploma in Dental Health Education and is one of the most experienced Hygienists in Australia today.
Angela worked in dental research at the Royal London Medical College and also established a Dental Hygiene unit in a top-level private dental practice in Harley Street, before migrating to Australia in 1977.
Her seniority in her profession was recognised when she was appointed as the inaugural President of the Dental Hygienists Association of New South Wales in 1984. Angela has taken great satisfaction in watching the reputation of dental hygienists grow in Australia since those early days and in seeing the high quality of young professionals now entering this specialisation.
She greatly enjoys her relationship with her patients, some of whom have been under her care for more than 15 years.
Angela, who has a reputation for being gentle but thorough, has a holistic approach to dentistry emphasising the importance of dental hygiene and dental health in the well being of the total person and the importance of keeping a healthy mouth and natural teeth throughout life.
Continuing education is important to Angela, so she attends many courses and feels that we are going through a very exciting time in dentistry today.
Angela shares a busy life with her husband Paul, three adult children and first grandchild (Emily, born November 2009.) She likes to keep active at weekends and enjoys travel, theatre, films, hiking, horse-riding and learning golf.
